Updated: What's new with Mardi Gras king cake in 2015?

Today is the Feast of the Epiphany, the opening of the Mardi Gras season. For traditionalists, this means it's the first day to indulge in king cake. And since it's a short Carnival season this year, there will be less time in 2015 to eat them.

For starters, Haydel's Bakery partnered with the ride-sharing service Uber to deliver cakes on Jan. 6. And Haydel's has expanded its pop-up locations to three this year (3940 Veterans Blvd., Metairie; 2431 Metairie Rd.; 4001 Magazine St., New Orleans).

This year, the over-the-top Domenica king cake from John Besh pastry chef Lisa White will be available at Pizza Domenica as well as at the restaurant in the Roosevelt Hotel.
